What is the Play About?Set in an old English tavern, the ghoulish characters gather to watch hangings. Each victim enters for a final drink before the hotel patrons gather at the window to view the event. The final victim refuses a drink and is hanged seconds before the arrival of a reprieve. "I'd better have his drink myself. Funny day this. Funny day. Not the usual." |
Reviews"This play should be banned. It was horrifying to see such callousness portrayed on stage." The Havelock North Herald "Ancestral Fling is a slow-paced play. It grinds relentlessly to an horrific climax. It produces an overwhelming revulsion at humanity's casual sadism. During a hanging, Gertrude's casual conversation about her cat is blood-curdling."
