374. Life's bouquet
© Bruce Goodman 19 October 2014

Linda was having a wonderful day. Her boss at work had given her a small pay rise last Wednesday. Today was Saturday. She went off to the city mall and purchased the beautiful vase she’d had her eye on for the past few months. It was still there for sale in the shop.

Back home she set to work in the garden. She picked some lovely flowers and arranged them in the new vase on top of the piano. It was like a bouquet to herself! Actually she didn’t have much in the garden, so she arranged some mint and geranium greenery around a bit of blue tweedia.

Then she prepared dinner. Roast chicken with various vegetables, followed by a piece of cheese cake.

After dinner she watched her favourite movie. She even moved her new vase next to the television, so she could look at both at once.

It had been a wonderful day. Quite ordinary really. Quite quite ordinary, but somehow lovely.

Linda went to bed at about eleven o’clock (after going to the toilet).

Indeed! Truth may be stranger than fiction, but it’s certainly a lot more boring.
