193. Rich, handsome, eligible
© Bruce Goodman 21 April 2014

Gordon was the richest, most handsome, most educated, most eligible bachelor in the area. He owned a farm. He drove a tractor (and a Jaguar). He was down-to-earth; very likeable; very friendly. He could dig a posthole. He could chop wood. He could cook. He played the oboe. He could be funny too.

Piles of woman of marriageable age and availability sought his attention. He danced with them all. Oh yes! He could dance!

He fell in love and married Ann. Ann had never dared hope. Of course she hadn’t dared; she’d been in a wheelchair all her life.
