Dear Mum & Dad,

I got up last Saturday after spending a whole week in bed, so it was nice to get your letter about midweek. On top of that, I had apparently torn a muscle in my back before I got sick, so it wasn’t very comfortable lying in bed. The back is OK now, but I still feel very week & have a bad cough.

At one stage there were over 20 in bed, so classes were cancelled for 2 days. The weather was the best in September that they had had for years apparently.

The musical - "Trial by Jury” – was due to be staged last night, but due to the flu’ will now be next Saturday night. I don’t feel much like having it at all, especially as so many people feel washed out with the flu’. But Fr. Connolly says it’s on. One of the lead singers is having his wisdom teeth out the day before – so he’s out. When he had his first lot out it affected him badly. However – he can’t get his appointment changed.

How old is Sally today?

Fr. Hickey – the Provincial – is visiting us tomorrow. The 4 young Fathers will probably be told their first appointments.

Well, I think that that’s all the news.

Love from
Bruce
