Mt. St. Mary’s, Greenmeadows. Mon. 22 Nov. ’71. Dear Mum & Dad, I was glad to hear you enjoyed your holiday at New Plymouth, & that Fr. Carroll is well. We had a very enjoyable conge last Monday even though the weather was overcast. Then on Thursday we had a History exam. It was fairly hard but I think I did alright. Fr. Roach, who takes us for History, says that next year he will teach us methods & techniques in answering exam question, so that ought to be helpful; especially if you ever go to Varsity. I have just finished a Scripture essay on St. Paul. We had to write an essay instead of sitting an exam. It is a year today since Br. Sylvester died. There is only one week of revision left before final exams next Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday. Fr. Mannix definitely has a shift next year, but I don’t know where. The new Procurator here is to be Fr. Chris Duggan who at present teaches at St. John’s in Hastings. They say he makes wonderful sponges & jams! It’s his hobby. Well, I can’t think of any more news. Fr. Chaney has not been very well recently. He has had 3 spells in Napier Hospital (heart), but is now back at Meeanee Presbytery. Best of luck to Leo for his exams. Love from Bruce |
