Dear Mum & Dad,

Thanks very much for coming last Sunday, I enjoyed it very much.

Fr. Frank Durning (ex-Rector of Silverstream) has been staying here for the last few days. He will be replacing Fr. Bonisch here & teaching philosophy when Fr. Bonisch goes overseas next year for six months.

Last Friday we had our last Philosophy class ever! So after 4 years of turning up to Philosophy class, when the last class came I forgot to turn up! – The first one I’ve ever missed.

Last Wednesday we had a surprise Conge.

Last Thursday Br. Walter died at the Home of Compassion at Silverstream. He was in his 100th year! He joined the Society when he was 57 and spent most of his time at Highden.

Another aspirant, Denis O’Reilly from Timaru, leaves this morning. That brings the number down to 16.

Well, I can’t think of any more news.

A very “Happy Birthday!” for next Sunday Mum!

Love from
Bruce
