“Highden.” Sun. 5th Oct. ’69. Dear Mum & Dad, The job changes came out yesterday. All my jobs are the same (Singing Master, Car Washer, Book Binder, Rose Garden) but I am also Lector. That means that I have to arrange the readings in the Dining Room. Tim Donoghue left last Thursday, so there are only 10 of us now. He has had quite a hard time here because of his father. The ones left are (for the sake of the record in band order) :- Maka Tatafu, John Lomu, Tony Solomone, Murray Cox, Dave Latu, Tim McCann, Tony O’Connor, Rob. Devlin, Bruce Goodman & John Owens. Bro. Anthony is still down in ChChurch with his mother. The next Visiting Day is Labour Monday – 27th Oct. – from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. That would mean that you could bring lunch if you come. We had a man come to talk to us on drugs on Thursday. Last Tuesday we had a Conge. On Wednesday afternoon 4 of us went to Fr. Jansen’s in Feilding to mow some lawns. On Friday night he came out to show us some slides. We start classes again tomorrow. Well, I can’t think of anymore news. Only 3 months yesterday left. Profession Day is at 9 a.m. on 4th Jan. 1970. (It is just a very private affair & none of the family come. Only any local Marist Fathers). Love from Bruce |
