588. A great disappointment
© Bruce Goodman 21 May 2015

Olga was big-boned. Not, however, as big-boned as her cousin, Edeltraut. Edeltraut was not only big-boned, she was tall. Olga was short.

Olga and Edeltraut were inseparable. They would do everything together, ever since they were toddlers. Find one and you’d find the other. Now they were in their sixties.

Even though same-sex marriages were legal, they’d never married because they were first cousins. They both had baby girls on the same day. The girls were fathered by the same sperm donor. Brigitta and Nixie were always told by their mothers that they were twins.

Years later, when Brigitta married Claus and Nixie married Johann, it was a great disappointment to Olga and Edeltraut.

Sometimes things don’t turn out the way you want, but you have to be open.
