426. Strawberry cream cake

Nigella changed out of her work clothes (bought at an expensive boutique) and put on something more comfortable. Donning an apron, she reached high into the cupboard for her favourite cookbook. Time to bake a cake!

She would make a strawberry cream cake. It was the strawberry season, and there were lots in the garden.

First she measured out the flour, baking powder and salt. Then she beat the butter and sugar. Oh no! She had run out of eggs.

Nigella took off her apron, changed out of her comfortable clothes, donned her work clothes (bought at an expensive boutique) and drove to the shop.

Returning, she changed into something more comfortable, donned the apron and set back to cake-making. Oh no! She was out of vanilla.

Getting in the car, apron and all, Nigella drove to the store.

Returning, she put on the kettle and made a nice cup of tea. She turn on the TV, put her feet up and, with the cuppa, enjoyed a piece of strawberry cream cake.

“You can’t beat a bought one,” said Nigella.
