3047. A tragedy
© Bruce Goodman 10 September 2024

As Superintendent Lachlan Nicholls said: “It’s not just a disaster, it’s a tragedy.”

The sole remaining female Black Wattled Wren in the world had been eaten by the sole remaining female Long Snouted Armadillo. The tragedy wasn’t just the end of the Black Wattled Wren. Black Wattled Wrens, as everyone knows, are poisonous to the Long Snouted Armadillo. The armadillo died. The two remaining male Black Wattled Wrens were without breeding mates, as indeed was the sole remaining male Long Snouted Armadillo.

But miracles of miracles! Politics degreed that males can have babies. All will be solved, but only if people vote sensibly.
