3048. Ivan’s new black car

Inheriting heaps of money from a rich aunt hadn’t turned Ivan into a pleasant fellow. He had always had a nasty streak; now he was nasty and arrogant. He was not at all liked in the neighbourhood. An example would be when he bought a new car.

The car was to be brand new and flash. It was to be black with chrome accessories and fittings. Chrome on black – that was a touch of class. The car arrived. It was all black. “Where are the chrome fittings?” demanded Ivan. The car was returned. Ivan had to wait a further two weeks for the proper car to arrive. In the meantime he had gone to the car sales place and insulted everyone he could find.

On the way home in his brand new black car with chrome fittings he crashed into a tree. The car was a write-off and Ivan was killed.

“It’s such a shame,” said Hugh.

“It’s such a shame,” said Jacqueline.

“It’s such a shame,” said Barry.

“It’s such a shame,” said Susan. “It was such a nice car.”
