3028. The joy of Joy

Joy was appropriately named. Even when she was very young she would excitedly run and play around Shirley’s house. Shirley often would babysit Joy for a few hours. In fact as Joy got older they became good friends.

When Shirley heard that Joy had died – quite suddenly it seems and so young– she was immensely sad. She recalled the happy hours they had spent; the nature walks they had been on down at the nearby stream, the meals; simple little things that make up life…

Still, thought Shirley, I suppose Marlene, Joy’s owner, could get another dog.
