3065. Edwina, the Christmas Fairy, Part 2 © Bruce Goodman 8 December 2024 |
This is a continuation of Edwina, the Christmas Fairy, posted on 30 November 2024. You may remember that Edwina had been overlooked as the fairy on top of the tree, and replaced by a dowdy image of Santa Claus. Edwina had been returned unwanted and ignored to a dark shoe box and placed in a cupboard… Edwina was devastated. She kept telling herself not to get depressed; not to get into a panic. She could still be of some use; after all, Christmas was still a few weeks away. And then she heard voices. It was the voice of Mrs. Nettie Brinkworth, Edwina’s owner, speaking with some unknown person… Nettie: I can’t believe someone stole the fairy at the top of the tree in the City Mall. The Christmas tree there is so tall. How did a thief get up there so high? Stranger: They probably used a ladder. We’re so pleased you have a spare fairy that we can borrow for the season. Nettie (opening the shoebox): Here she is! This is Edwina! Stranger: Oh she’s horrible. It’s not at all what we’re looking for. I’m sorry but we can’t use her. The two left the room. After a few minutes Mrs. Nettie Brinkworth returned. She took Edwina out of the box. Nettie: I’d forgotten just how lovely you are. I’ve missed you. You shall have to replace that dowdy old Santa replica at the top of the tree. And if you’re looking for Edwina, that’s where she is this very day. Back to Index Next Story Previous Story |
