2831. Debut performance © Bruce Goodman 1 September 2023 |
Here I am in the wings of the theatre about to make my debut performance in a major production. I’m terrified out of my skin. It’s unbelievably exciting. All those hours of rehearsals and learning lines. I’m not the lead of course. Sir Miles McDevon is the lead. He plays the part of King Richard III. He’s starting his opening soliloquy. Now is the winter of our discontent made glorious summer… I know every word of his opening speech. Oh God I’m on in a minute for my debut. I have to enter. Richard III will say: What means this armed guard that awaits upon your Grace? And I answer with: His Majesty, tend’ring my person’s safety, hath appointed this conduct to convey me to the Tower. Oh I’m on! I’m on! Here I go! I want to be sick! What means this armed guard that awaits upon your Grace? Ah! Oh! Um… um… Holy shit! Good afternoon. Back to Index Next Story Previous Story |
