P.O. Box 43, Taradale. 20/10/74. Dear Mum & Dad, Goodness! I got a shock when I received your last letter to see how long it was since I last wrote. I hope you have all recovered from the flu’. It sounds a bit like the flu’ I got a few months ago. This will have to be short! My first varsity exam is next Thursday (24th) – 9 a.m. – 12 a.m. It is Pacific Island History I (1/2 a unit). I’m quite a lot behind at present. But am catching up fast. But there’s a bit of a panic on! A lot has been happening here. The surrounds around the bath are almost completed. We had our first swim in it yesterday, & they are tremendous. We’ve had a lot of hot weather, although 2 days ago it rained all day. But we’ve been lucky. The driveway up to the house is at last completely tar sealed. The ‘Old Brothers’ Houses are now almost completely down. They are putting up 2 quash Courts there, plus several working rooms (e.g. a fruit storage place) and changing sheds. Most of the bathrooms have been renovated. Fr Reader is certainly on the ball when it comes to getting things done! Fr. Michael Fitzgerald’s father (Tawa – ordained with Pat Devlin) died this morning of cancer. Anyway, I must fly. Will write and tell you how my first exam went. I hope to get it, but if I don’t it won’t be the end of the world. Love from Bruce P.S. Thanks for the ‘Comfy Heel Grips’. I wear those shoes quite a lot & now they fit perfectly! |
