P.O. Box 43, Taradale, H.B. Mon. 16th Oct. ‘72 Dear Mum & Dad, I was going to write to Mehegan & Tony for Tony’s Birthday but I haven’t got round to it yet. Last Friday evening Bear came out for a few hours. His ship was unloading cargo at Napier. He is 3rd Mate of the ship, and will be changing ships before going to America. Other than that, there’s not much news. At the moment, a duck has her nest in front of the house. Every morning at about ¼ to six she decides to go for a walk, “Quack! Quack!” and wakes us all up. Fr. G. Duggan always rushes out to throw it some bread, but I’ll be glad when the eggs hatch and she goes away so that I can get some sleep. Massey University Exams are during this next fortnight. I’m not sitting any of course. John Owens sits French I today. Well, I can’t think of any more news. Love from Bruce |
