Mt. St. Mary’s, Greenmeadows. Sun. 14th Mar. ’71. Dear Mum & Dad, It was very nice to see you on Sunday. It has been raining almost all the time since you left. Although Monday was a good day. We went to Puketapu on a Conge on Monday. On Tuesday we had grape-picking. I was working in the cellars crushing the gapes. They picked 703 boxes, & we were kept that busy crushing the grapes that we only had 10 minutes for lunch. We started at 8.30 a.m. and finished at 10 p.m., so they kept us busy! Wednesday was another day of grape-picking but we finished about 2 in the afternoon. There are still another couple of days left of grape-picking yet. To what address would I send a telegram (& to what Name & How?) to Jill Foster on April 3rd? Fr. Hickey has plans for “redesigning” the grounds to have more lawn & shrubs & less garden. This would mean less work for us, which is a good idea. As someone remarked, “It seems a bit funny that 50 people should all happen to have a passionate interest in flower gardens!” So the gardens were a bit of a burden to some. However, this is only a long term plan. Well, I can’t think of any more news. Love from Bruce |
