Mt. St. Mary’s, Greenmeadows. Sun. 26th July ‘70 Dear Mum & Dad, “Happy Birthday” for next Thursday Leo! This letter will have to be short because I seem to spend all of my time feeding those who are down with the ‘flu’. The number seems to stay at a steady 3. As soon as one goes to bed, it is time for another to get up. (I’ve said the last sentence round the wrong way!) Tomorrow the new job changes come out. I will finish being Infirmarian then. I hope I don’t get the job of Bellman! It’s the last chance I’ll get of being appointed to it. Thanks for the “Live-In” Advertisements. Everyone was very interested. Please thank Mehegan for sending the 21 Anniversary copy of the “Kapiti Observer”. (At least I think it was Mehegan!) Hers & Helen’s writing are much the same, & I’ve spent the last 2 days working out the identity. It was very interesting – the paper I mean! Thanks. The Scripture Seminar was a success. I saw Fr. Greally. I couldn’t find Fr. Collins for the life of me – so perhaps he didn’t come? I’d better sign off now. The Class Programme for the term has just been posted. We have every week – 5 classes of Philosophy, 2 of Scripture, 2 of Sociology, 2 of Latin, & 5 of History. I can’t help but think that they’re flogging the History a bit too hard. Particularly when you don’t learn much in it. Fr. Mannix takes me for both History & Latin, so 7 classes a week sounds rather exhilarating. (I think I’ll start studying Egyptian Phonetics just for a bit of light relief!!) Love from Bruce |
