Dear Mum & Dad,

It was raining here all day yesterday, and the creeks were in flood. It is fairly fine today though, & all the water has subsided.

On the visiting day you can arrive any time in the morning until tea (approx. 5.45 p.m.). On the day out, it is after breakfast – about 8.30 a.m. until 8.30 p.m. I don’t think that there is any place in particular that I want to go. Most of the students will be at Waimarama but John Owens & myself are staying for the first half of the holidays to do English. Robert Devlin broke his collar bone playing tagg rugby so he will also be here. So that lunch you mentioned on Visiting Day would be most gratefully received!

We have only Philosophy Written exam and Orals left. The written is on Monday and the Orals are on Wednesday. The other exams went quite well I think. We don’t get the results but if I fail any I get what is called a ‘Post’ and have to sit again. They are very rare however.

On Tuesday morning we are going to Barry Malone’s Ordination in Hastings. What was Fr. Beasley’s Ordination like?

Bear (Worsnop) was here yesterday. He came about 2 o’clock & I showed him round. Everyone is well. He leaves for England any time after July 7th – it just depends when a ship comes. He will be working his way over but doesn’t have to worry about finding a ship himself – some other man in the Shipping Company is doing it. He had Jeff Worsnop (Maisie’s boy) with him. I think Bear was staying with Maisie.

I was wondering if, when you come up, you could bring all of my old school notes if they haven’t been thrown out. I only want my English and Biology notes but if you would bring the lot I would sort them out. I think that there are three ring binders – a blue one, a green speckled one and a red one. (You mightn’t be able to find the red one). Also, all my old exercise books that you can find – both hard and soft covers.

I got my second A- in English from Massey on Friday.

Last Friday we had a Conge but it was raining so we stayed at the Mount and had a free day.

Well, I think that that is all the news.

Love from
Bruce

P.S. I see in ‘The Dominion’ that Mrs Banner died.
