What is the Musical About?Four M Three F plus choruses. Only the script and piano score are currently available. This tells an ancient story, full of colour and medieval intrigue. The plot is drawn roughly from three sources: "Maistre Pierre Pathelin" (an anonymous French farce, 1464), "Der tote Mann" (by Hans Sachs, 1553), and "Der Teufel mit dem alten Weibe" (by Hans Sachs, 1545). Daniel has cloth from his shop swindled by Wrangle, a cunning lawyer. Flora and Nibble, the Shepherds, are caught in the middle. The right people win in the end. "To see a cast of over 300 present such a lovely story amid all the medieval pageantry was simply marvellous." - Parent |
