471. Birthday party surprise © Bruce Goodman 24 January 2015 |
Anne was a little bit put out that none of her friends had wished her a happy birthday. She was sure they knew it was her birthday. After all, she had mentioned it casually to them enough times. What she didn’t know was that they had organised a surprise party! All seven of her friends assembled in secret in the lounge of her home, lights out, awaiting her arrival from work. They had decorated the room in her absence with banners and balloons, and had prepared nibbles and drinks. One banner read: They sat in the dark. She didn’t turn up. After several hours, they decided to party anyway. And what a lovely party! It grew late. They left a note: We shall do it again some time when you’re here. Hope you had a HAPPY BIRTHDAY! |
