503. Thoroughly modern Harriet
© Bruce Goodman 25 February 2015

Harriet’s parents didn’t believe in Father Christmas, or the Tooth Fairy, or the Easter Bunny. In fact, they didn’t believe in Fairy Stories, or even novels. Harriet was fed on facts. She would grow up to be a scientist. Highly educated. Highly intelligent. Thoroughly modern.

And she did! She grew up to be very successful and relatively rich. But she was a technician in a laboratory. She wasn’t a scientist. That’s because lab technicians know their facts and equations.

Scientists know how to dream.
