381. Offal pit
© Bruce Goodman 26 October 2014

No doubt some will be unfamiliar with offal pits. Farmers use them. They are wide holes, drilled about six metres deep, which are covered with a concrete slab and a trapdoor. Farmers throw in the carcasses of dead sheep and other dead farm animals. It takes about twenty years to fill one up. That’s how deep they are!

Farmer John has an offal pit. It was recently drilled. Only a few dead sheep have been thrown in.

Anyway, that's not what I was going to say. His life was smashed to buggery when his wife had an affair with the farmer next door. They’ve taken off together somewhere apparently. Just like that. Disappeared. Not even a goodbye. God knows where they went to.
