153. Father Wolf's post-dinner nap

Rudyard Kipling’s Mowgli (the Man-cub) was all grown up, and went back to the jungle to see his Mother Wolf and Father Wolf. And also to pay a brief visit to Baloo, his teacher bear, and Bagheera, his black panther guardian.

“Oh holy moly!” exclaimed Father Wolf to Mowgli. “Look how fat you’ve got!”

With that, he gobbled up Mowgli with one bite. Yummy! Father Wolf fell into a deep post-dinner nap.

Along came a hunter who slit Father Wolf’s stomach open with a sharp knife. He saw Mowgli there.

“Oh holy moly!” said the hunter. “I was looking for Little Red Riding Hood’s grandmother.” He sewed Father Wolf back up.

Along came another hunter who slit Father Wolf’s stomach open with a sharp knife. He saw Mowgli there.

“Oh holy moly!” said the hunter. “I was looking for six of the seven Grimm’s baby goats.” He sewed Father Wolf back up.

Along came another hunter who slit Father Wolf’s stomach open with a sharp knife. He saw Mowgli there.

“Oh holy moly!” said the hunter. “I was looking for the Duck in Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf.” He sewed Father Wolf back up.

Along came another hunter who slit Father Wolf’s stomach open with a sharp knife. He saw Mowgli there.

“Oh holy moly!” said the hunter. “I was looking for the Three Little Pigs.” He sewed Father Wolf back up.

Along came another hunter who…

“For crying out loud!” exclaimed Father Wolf. “Can’t I get some sleep?”
