3147. Beach scenery

Roselyn had her favourite job in all the world: she created props and sceneries for stage plays. She had just created a beach scene: sand and rocks, with driftwood and seashells and washed up seaweed. Of course she couldn’t create the ocean but she didn’t need to; the play was set on a beach. She had simply painted an ocean backdrop.

Opening night arrived. The main character entered and began a profound speech about the meaning of life. He was half way through when he tripped on a piece of driftwood, and fell down hitting his head WHAM! on a rock. People rushed on stage to help.

“It’s okay! It’s okay!” shouted Roselyn. “It’s just a sham rock.”

Happy St Patrick’s Day to all who celebrate it!
