Kenneth and Conrad were passionate about one thing: model trains. They were both retired, had time on their hands, and were almost obsessed with their model trains. Neither lived great social lives but preferred their own company. They had met online and each proudly had a camera on their train diorama; each marvelled at the others enterprise. One day Kenneth turned on his computer and went straight to Conrad’s model train site. There were the model villages, and model trains, and model barns and farms, and model sheep and cows. And sprawled over the lot was what looked like Conrad’s dead body. Naturally Kenneth was shocked. He wasn’t sure what to do. He called the emergency phone number… “Yes, there’s a man lying dead on the tracks of his model train set.” “Where is that sir?” “I don’t know. His name is Conrad.” “What is his last name?” “I don’t know.” “Where does he live?” “I don’t even know what country he’s from.” In the end Kenneth explained that it was on the internet. The police did their job, and eventually Conrad’s body was located. He was Kenneth’s next door neighbour. Back to Index Next Story Previous Story |
