There’s no doubt it was exciting. The new leader was about to pass by. Crowds lined the street for a glimpse. Flags were waved. Paddy had been waiting for six hours. He had arrived early to ensure a good spot. He was glad he did; the crowd lining the street was six deep at least. It wouldn’t be long now before the new leader was to pass by. The crowd was friendly. Everyone was excited. In fact the elderly lady next to Paddy was cracking jokes such as “Let’s hope the king is wearing clothes”. Paddy suddenly realized he needed a pee. There was no denying it. Once he’d thought of it, that was that. He made his way to one of the porta-loos. There was a small queue. He waited in line. At last! At last! A great cheer erupted outside. Paddy didn’t care. Such was the relief. Perhaps they were cheering him! When he came back onto the street the crowd was dispersing. Back to Index Next Story Previous Story |
