Simone wasn’t just a pretty face; she was vastly under-educated. Her lack of learning was compensated by an innate cunning. She could bullcrap her way through a job interview like there was no tomorrow. She also had a remarkable skill in forging documents and references. Thus, upon applying for a job as lecturer in literature at a prestigious university, she not only had music qualifications but she had spent the last five years teaching the harpsichord. No one noticed that she had long fingernails, which precluded the ability to play any musical keyboard. “But what of your experience in teaching literature?” asked the interviewing panel. “Oh!” said Simone, “I feel a little strumcombulated by your question, but my experience is vast.” She got the job!
