2957. Desperation

Alfred had driven for seven hours. He wasn’t far off arriving home when he realized he wanted to go to the bathroom. The more he thought about it the more desperate he got. Make it home he did! He left the car running at his front door, pressed the door’s pin number and rushed through the living room, down the hallway, and into the bathroom. Oh the relief!

What he hadn’t noticed as he passed through the living room was the burglar standing there looking terrified. He would have been caught red-handed but Alfred had no time to notice. The burglar had ransacked the house in search of money and jewellery. He had gathered quite a stash.

The quick-thinking thief raced out the door, jumped into Alfred’s still-running car and took off. Two day’s latter they found the abandoned car on a lonely road. The jewellery and cash were never recovered.
