3041. The price of eggs
© Bruce Goodman 28 August 2024

Young Peter kept chickens. He was seven years old, and he had made some sort of fowl run. He would gather the eggs and sell them to his mother. As she said, the price of Peter’s eggs was cheaper than buying eggs at the supermarket.

One day Peter decided to up the price of his eggs. After all, he had seen his father watching the news and complaining how the price of eggs had rocketed.

Peter’s mother accepted the price rise; it was still lower than the shops. But she thought that perhaps the time was ripe for discussing the price of a sack of wheat.
