Ever since a child and seeing pictures in books Chadwick had wanted to scuba dive in a coral reef. As an adult, seeing an aquarium in a pet shop with coral and tropical fish, his desire to snorkel around Australia’s Great Barrier Reef was reinvigorated. For his fortieth birthday his wife had two secrets: one was tickets for two to fly to Australia for a scuba expedition, and the other surprise was that on their return he would go to the pet shop and pick up the spectacular coral aquarium. Off they went! The scuba day dawned sunny and clear. Chadwick was geared up in his snorkelling outfit. The “glass” bottomed boat showed spectacular views. The captain announced that all snorkelling was cancelled. Sharks had been reported in the area. We shall simply stop the boat and the guide will point out various features of the coral. Suddenly there was a splash. Chadwick couldn’t resist the moment. He was in the water. At the funeral mourners wondered why they didn’t try to disguise things a bit.
