2752. Gone fishing

“Time flies when you’re having fun,” said Timothy dourly. He’d been sitting on the river bank for maybe an hour with his friend, Toby. Toby had asked Timothy if he wanted to go fishing. Timothy had never gone fishing in his life. He didn’t realize that he’d be sitting on the river bank for hours without a fishing rod watching his friend use the only fishing rod and catching nothing.

“Fishing is so relaxing,” said Toby. “I could do it all day, every day.”

“Yeah, right,” said Timothy.

Two hours passed and not a single bite. Not a splash. Timothy was beside himself with boredom. That was when Toby handed Timothy the fishing rod and said “You have a go”. Timothy flung the line out. Within seconds he had caught a fish. What a battle Timothy had to haul it in.

“That’s the biggest trout I’ve ever seen in the river,” said Toby.

It was time to go home. Timothy can’t wait for tomorrow. He’s keen as mustard to go fishing again.
