2950. Farewell to the old year

Cyril couldn’t wait for the year to end. It had been a rotten year for him. One disaster after another occurred. In fact he couldn’t think of a month that hadn’t ushered in a catastrophe.

The worst event was when his wife passed away in March. They had been married for just under fifty-eight years. Then he lost his driver’s licence because his eyesight was failing. A granddaughter had opted to live out on the street. The list went on. “Roll on next year!” thought Cyril. “Only a day to go!”

Of course one of the first things he’d do once New Year’s Day had passed was to go see a doctor. He had these constant pins and needles in his hands and feet.
