48 Aurora Tce, Wlgtn. 3 Sept. 73. Dear Mum & Dad, Well, I’ve been back for over a week already. I had a very enjoyable time at home, and am glad I read those books because I’ve been flatout ever since I got back. Thank you very much for the tickets to the Scout Expo. I gave them to Barry Leech & Mick Austin who did a lot of scouting at school. They went yesterday. I got a pair of cords, & also my Xmas present. I will give it to you & the change when I see you next. Thank you. At last I hope to finish my electronic composition tomorrow. Ross Harris, my lecturer in it, has gone away for a fortnight because his wife had a baby & it died a few hours afterwards. Douglas Lilburn will be taking me for my electronic piece. While Ross Harris is away the class is going to write a short “opera” on Jonah and the Whale. Fr. Woodcock is Jonah and I am God! I have an English assignment due today and haven’t started yet. However, I’m sure it will be done in time. Somehow these things always get done. I begin teaching at Tawa College on the 11th (Tues.), teaching on the Tues, Wed & Thurs. for a fortnight. Yesterday we had a retreat day, given by Fr. Kevin O’Donoghue S.M. He is a very good conference giver. Next Saturday (8th) evening we are having a Parents’ Evening for all the parents of Seminarians in the Wellington area. You are, of course, most welcome to come. It begins with a Mass at 7.30 p.m. followed by supper. If you come, park on Clifton Tce, which is the street running at a 90° angle to our place. There are about 30 pairs of parents in the Wellington area and I think most of them are coming, so it should be very crowded. Well, I’d better get started on my English essay. Love from Bruce |
