Dear Mum & Dad,

I was sorry to hear about Aunty Ethel. Was she at Silverstream Hospital when she died?

Last night we had the musical “Naughty Marietta”. It was very successful. Michael Pervan & I took turns at accompanying.

Mrs. Robinson, the lady who does our sewing, made me a new soutane for summer last week.

Yesterday I went to the funeral in Hastings of Fr. Goldfinch’s father’s funeral. St. Peter Chanel’s Church was packed with R.S.A. men. Fr. Goldfinch is a missionary in Samoa, & had come home for a short holiday, & his father died then.

Well, I’m afraid that there’s not much news. We seem to be getting about ½” at least of rain a day. Everything is very wet, but the mornings are usually cloudless. We have a Conge in Wednesday so I hope it’s fine.

Love from
Bruce
