“Highden.”
Sun. 3rd Aug. ’69.

Dear Mum & Dad,

It is so warm today that I am writing this in the sun with my shirt off, so please excuse the writing.

“Happy Birthday” Dad! for tomorrow.

Also wish Leo a Happy Birthday for the other day!

It was interesting to hear that Leo brought home a Brendan “someone” from Waimaramara. Was it Brendan Sherning? Because Sherning’s place is one of the Conge spots during camp, although I have never been there.

Next Visiting Day is on Sunday 31st August, from 1.30 to 5 p.m.

It is Sr. Mary of Grace’s anniversary today.

Last Wednesday Night we went into Palmerston Nth. to hear a Fr. Stransky speak on ecumenism. He is from the Vatican - & works on the Secretariat for promoting Christian Unity. He is an American. You probably saw his photo in the “Zealandia” or “Tablet” Anyway he was very good.

On Thursday we had a Conge at O’Donnell’s & it rained most of the day, but we were in their hay barn.

Maka Tatafu has been in bed for the last few days – probably he is not used to the food & the weather, but he is up now.

I have got a dental appointment on the 26th of August in Feilding.

Well, I can’t think of any more news. I will tell Tony & Rick more about the “Cows” when I find out more about it – but I don’t think that the method is a very original one.

Love from
Bruce
