Mt. St. Marys, Greenmeadows. Sun. 28th July ’68. Dear Mum & Dad, We have had our first week of classes for the second term. This term in Philosophy we are doing Metaphysics, which is about ‘Being’. At the moment we are trying to show Sceptics that reality really exists! On Wednesday we are going into Napier to see a violinist – Sylvia Someone. I have written to Leo (because of his Birthday). It has been very cold here in the mornings recently with heavy frosts. The days are cloudless, but as soon as the sun goes down it is freezing again. Massey has sent two 1 hour tests to be sent away before tomorrow so this had better be a short letter, otherwise I won’t finish them. Our last assignment is due in by about August 17th. I think the Exam will be in October, so we will get it over and done with fairly early. Well, I think I had better go. I had a letter from John Kavanagh recently. One half was taken up saying that they had Communion under both kinds for the first time last Sunday (we have it about once every 3 weeks or month!) the other half was spent in saying that they were going to hear Fr. Bassett S.J. speak in Chch. (Fr. Bassett came and stayed here for about three days!) Well that is all the news. Love from Bruce |
