3214. Internet research
© Bruce Goodman 23 May 2025

Hi. My name is Vladimir Burtonshaw. Going online is a fantastic way to explore my family tree. I was amazed to discover that my great uncle Bozo was baptised three years before he was conceived. The thought would never have crossed my mind. In fact, I never thought it was possible until I read it in someones family tree.

I’m able to add to the tree as well. Other people have been generous enough to post their research so I see there’s no reason not to post mine.

My big breakthrough came when I discovered who great uncle Bozo married. I had been looking for Bozo Burtonshaw’s marriage and I couldn’t find it. There was a Bruno Burtonshaw and I thought for a minute that might have been Bozo. The dates were out only by a decade or so. In the end I decided that his real name was Barney. He was married in Denmark in 1874 to Amelia Whiteford. They had four children. Amelia was widowed and sixty-four when they got married. I presume she was the same person as Aimée Whiteford who died in South Africa in 1869.

It’s such a wonderful resource – the internet – and I’m so proud to have added to the body of research that is permanently stored there. I also found a digital pile of Nancy Reagan’s favourite recipes that I incorporated into my tree.
