3129. Death in the goldfish pond
© Bruce Goodman 27 February 2025

When Lillian first saw Hinton’s body floating in the goldfish pond she immediately presumed there had been some foul deed. Hinton had been perfectly healthy when she last saw him – just yesterday – and there he was now floating in her garden’s goldfish pond. She had some trouble getting the body out.

If it was the result of a foul deed, who would have done this and why? There were no marks on Hinton’s body that she could see. There would be a dozen or so suspects that could have done it, but what was the motive? Perhaps then death came about by natural causes. Was it a virus or a sudden heart attack? Death can come unannounced, and it certainly came abruptly to Hinton, Lillian’s pet goldfish.
