Annette was a lovely little old lady. She was onto her fourth husband and quite honestly she had run out of ideas. The first one was poisoned, the second was shot, and the third fell victim to an arranged car accident. Now it was Harvey’s turn.

Harvey had become tiresome. Divorce was out of the question. As Annette said (to herself of course), “I vowed till death us do part and that’s the way I’m having it.”

She tried reading murder novels for inspiration. Nothing took her fancy. Suddenly she was seized with a creative idea. She would visit the nearby maximum security prison. It was charity. Some isolated prisoners had no one in the outside world to visit them. This little old lady was harmless enough. Of course guards would always be handy for safety.

After several visits she would have the confidence of a prisoner or two and could pose the question: Can you help? Of course they could. Take my advice. This is what you do…

It worked.

That was over a year ago. She has started visiting the prison again. Husband number five is proving equally tiresome.
