Tania and Peggy had been good friends for years. Both were widowed and lived alone They had two regular weekly outings: Tuesday afternoons were for shopping (mainly groceries) and Thursday afternoons were for volunteering at the Soup Kitchen for street kids. The two rarely had a disagreement but when they did it was full on. Last Thursday was a case in point. Tania said she believed in extra-terrestrial aliens. They were everywhere. You couldn’t tell the difference between them and humans. They were spying on everything humans did. Peggy said she’d never heard anything so stupid in all her life. It was fantasy stuff. That’s why they call it Science Fiction – because it’s made up. But Tania stuck to her guns, and they departed still good friends but both a little hot under the collar. It really was much ado about nothing. Tania had been trying to tell Peggy something for weeks but this disagreement made her tired. She was glad to get home and sit down. Almost immediately she transmogrified into a different shape. She would take a nap before sending a report to her home planet. Back to Index Next Story Previous Story |
