There's no doubt that Hedley was a bit of a wag. His wife, Elaine, enjoyed his pranks immensely. Come Halloween Hedley would dress up in a sheet as a ghost. Elaine had made it for him. It had little black holes for eyes, and holes for his arms so it looked like he was wielding a knife. Hedley would go out in the evening of Halloween, hide in a dark alley, and when someone came along he would leap out with a WHOOOOOO! and scare the living daylights out of them. Although Elaine didn’t go out with her husband on this annual escapade, she revelled in hearing about it when he got back home. She liked to think that they worked as a team.
