2864. As luck would have it

The captain’s message sent terror through all the passengers. This plane is crippled. We can only limp through the air. Hopefully we will be able to land safely in about two hours.

As the plane touched down, I breathed a huge sigh of relief. And then the tires blew and the plane went into a spin on the runway. People were screaming. The emergency chutes were employed and everyone made it safely to the tarmac.

The walk to the terminal was interminable. It was raining heavily. We had no luggage and our plane went up in flames. Just as we were about to enter the airport building a terrorist (they surmise) blew the entire building to smithereens. Suddenly we were not a priority. We would have to fend for ourselves.

There was a hotdog stand still standing near the entrance to what had been the terminal building. The owner had fled. Some raided it. I was about to take a hotdog when the police arrived. We scattered.

Just when you think things couldn’t get worse… I fortunately had my car keys on me. And there slap-bang under the wipers on the windscreen was a parking fine for 35 dollars.

I arrived home only to discover my wife had run off with the milkman. By now it was eight o’clock in the morning. On the way home I had bought a lottery ticket using my usual numbers. I thought “This could be my lucky day.”
