2772. Taking a stand

Cheryl hated the fact that the little girl next door ran a successful lemonade stand and her daughter didn’t. Not that her daughter had tried to set one up. In fact Cheryl had forbidden it. But that little girl next door was obnoxious, and so was her mother.

The mother was loud, nasty, and would trample on anything or anyone to get her daughter ahead. That lemonade stand was an example. The only thing the little girl did was stand behind the counter and look forlorn. Her mother did all the work in the background.

A few weeks ago Cheryl had a meeting with the father of the little girl next door, and he said “It’s over. This affair is leading nowhere.”

Anyway, that’s beside the point. Cheryl went to the police and reported that the little girl’s lemonade stand wasn’t simply illegal, it was dirty.
