2935. A brief moment

Constance had waited for months for this wedding day. Everything had been planned down to the minute. Umberto too had been involved in the planning from the start. Of course they were both mature enough to know that some things can go wrong, and almost inevitably will. So there was no reason to get upset. They would deal with it if something should happen.

Umberto and his wedding party waited at the church. The horse and carriage – this was a modern wedding but the horse and carriage added a touch of class – arrived at the church with the bride and her father. That was when Constance realized something; she had left her blue garter at home. It was sitting on the bed. She hadn’t put it on.

Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.

Her father didn’t have anything blue on him. A message was sent to Umberto: have you anything blue? Umberto disappeared into the sacristy. The crisis was averted. After a brief moment Constance and her father proceeded down the aisle. Thank goodness the elastic held.
