2933. Heidi's day

When Heidi got up that morning she had presumed the day was going to be ordinary, like every other day.

She showered and had a light breakfast, as was her custom. Today she was going to town to catch up on a few items. She wasn’t shopping for luxuries or anything like that; just some items from the grocery store, and she needed a new mouse pad (these things get old and tatty). Also she wanted a can of that stuff that can be sprayed on door hinges to stop them squeaking. So off she went to the town centre in her little red car.

To save on expensive city parking costs, she parked some distance from the shopping mall. She had all the time in the world, and by walking for twenty minutes or so she saved a few dollars. Besides, she liked to treat herself to lunch when she went to town – a camembert toasty from her favourite café – and saving a few bucks on parking was like getting a free lunch!

At the hardware, because she didn’t know what the door hinge anti-squeak stuff was called she simply asked for “that door hinge anti-squeak stuff” and she was sold a spray can of WD-40.

Once all the shopping was done she walked to her car. Another advantage of parking a good walking distance from the shops was that it stopped her from buying too much, as she had to carry it for a distance! She went home and prepared some dinner, but because she had had a delightful luncheon she wasn’t particularly hungry.

And that was Heidi’s ordinary day as she had rightly predicted.
