(Hagiography has not played a very big part in these stories, so here’s one with a hagiographical theme!) When Teresa of Avila, the great 16th century Spanish reformer of the Carmelite nuns and monks, was crossing a plank over a muddy swollen creek she slipped and fell in the mud.
