Lois was always full of good advice – for everyone else. “Don’t cut the branch you are sitting on” she used to say, as if the saying applied to everyone and everything under the sun. Whenever anyone criticized another it was always “Don’t cut the branch you are sitting on. You never know when you might need the help of that person.” One day at work a colleague fell into the grain grinder. What a mess! “That,” said Lois, “is what you get when the boss doesn’t implement proper safety procedures.” In fact, Lois wouldn’t shut up about it. She went on and on and on about it for a week. The boss had had enough. At the end of the week the boss fired Lois.
