The sketches reproduced here are from an album which recently came to light in Canada and was purchased at auction in August 1996 by Ballarat Fine Art Gallery. Doudiet's sketches are considered a significant contribution in helping piece together the history of the Eureka Stockade.
Doudiet's Australian Sketches also include impressions of everyday life on the goldfields.
