Clowne is a pleasant village situated in the North East corner of Derbyshire. Although once an important mining area, the area is now predominantly residential. This is not to say that Clowne has become merely a suburb of its sprawling neighbour of Sheffield, with its history, which stretches back to Neolithic times.
